Journey to the crown – An exclusive interview with Jiya Nitin Patil, Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 finalist
Jiya Nitin Patil from Pune has been selected as one of the finalists for the nation’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for teenagers and adolescents - Miss Teen Diva. She is a student at the Symbiosis International College, Pune and has walked the runway at the Dubai and India Fashion Week. She enjoys dancing and is also a trained gymnast. In addition to that she is also a world record holder in inline skating. She has also investigated at some of the most haunted places in India. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High Magazine, she talks about her preparations for the Miss Teen Diva finals and her journey till now.
Q. Many congratulations to you for getting selected for the national finals of Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 competition. How does it feel? What were the first thoughts that crossed your mind when you got the news that you have gotten selected to compete at the 2023-24 Miss Teen Diva contest?
Answer: Thank you so much. It’s an incredible feeling to be selected as the national finalist of Miss Teen Diva 2023 contest. I have been working hard for the finals and I look forward to meet and compete with all my fellow contestants. When I got the news of getting selected for the finals of Miss Teen Diva 2023 I was overjoyed and was dancing with happiness; my emotions had no limit and I’m so excited to showcase my talent and represent my region at the national platform
Q. Please tell us more about the place you belong to.
Answer: I belong to the cultural and educational hub of India – Pune. The Pune City is known for its rich history, cultural heritage and educational institutions. Pune is referred to as the Oxford of the East due to its numerous educational institutions. The city is also a significant IT and technological hub in India. Other than this the city has a deep historical significance. Pune is also known for its diverse culture and vibrant art scenes such as theater performances, music events and cultural events.
Q. Enlighten us regarding your preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition.
Answer: In preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition, I’ve been focusing on several key areas. Firstly, I’ve been working on my physical fitness through a combination of regular exercise and a balanced diet to ensure that I feel confident on stage. Additionally, I’ve been honing my talents, whether it's dancing, singing, or any other special skills I plan to showcase. I’ve also been studying current events and social issues, as it’s important to be well-informed and have knowledge regarding important matters. This will help me during interviews and Q&A sessions. Furthermore, I’ve been working to perfect my runway walk and overall stage presence. In terms of my wardrobe, I’ve been carefully selecting outfits that reflect my personality and style while adhering to the competition’s guidelines. Finally, I’ve been practicing my communication skills to ensure that I can express myself articulately and confidently. I believe that thorough preparation in all these areas will contribute to my best performance at the Miss Teen Diva competition.
Q. In your opinion, what are the qualities / traits that you believe could help you move ahead in the competition?
Answer: The qualities and traits that would help me move forward in the competition are –

Q. Tell us something about your hobbies and areas of interest.
Answer: My areas of interest include exploring and investigating haunted locations / places and debunking the fake news and myths. I also love studying the paranormal world, occult science and solve the mysteries of the other side of the world. My hobbies include a variety of stuff like dancing, playing all kinds of sports like gymnastics, skating, table tennis and reading different kinds of books is something I do in my free time or when I’m stressed.
Q. Any quote or saying that has a profound impact on you.
Answer: Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.
This quote encourages me authentically and reminds me of the value in embracing our individuality rather than trying to become someone else or like something else, it’s a powerful message about self-acceptance and the unique strengths that each person brings to the world.
Q. Who / what is your biggest support system?
Answer: My support system includes my family, friends and peers – whom I can turn to for emotional and practical support are my biggest support system and they are the reason I can achieve whatever I want
Q. When you look back in time, what is the biggest life lesson that you have learnt?
Answer: The biggest life lesson that I have learnt is that everything happens for a reason whether good or bad what has happened already can’t be changed and one day this moment will just be a memory so make sure it’s a good one.
Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to handle criticism?
Answer: In my opinion, the best way to handle criticism is to stay calm, listen, consider the source, focus on constructive elements, avoid unnecessary defensiveness and use it as an opportunity for self-growth.
Q. One piece of advice that you would like to share with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry.
Answer. One piece of advice that I would like to share with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry is that –
Be passionate and committed. Dedicate yourself to your goals in the pageant industry, and let that drive you to excel and make a positive impact.”

Answer: Remember, life is a collection of moments, big and small. Cherish them, learn from them, and let them shape your journey. Embrace the challenges, celebrate the victories, and always keep moving forward with purpose and gratitude.
