Journey to the crown: An exclusive interview with Tanishqa Sharma, Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 finalist
Tanishqa Sharma from Bihar has been selected as one of the finalists for the nation’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for teenagers and adolescents - Miss Teen Diva. Born in Patna, Tanishqa is a student at the St. Joseph’s Convent High School and is a model and content creator by profession. She has walked the runway at the Lakme Fashion Week Bihar and has also appeared in a series of television commercials. She is a trained classical dancer and has performed at various events in Bihar. Tanishqa is a polyglot and can speak 5 languages including English, Italian, Maghi, Hindi and Bhojpuri. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High Magazine, she talks about her preparations for the Miss Teen Diva finals and her journey till now.
Q. Many congratulations to you for getting selected for the national finals of Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 competition. How does it feel? What were the first thoughts that crossed your mind when you got the news that you have gotten selected to compete at the 2023-24 Miss Teen Diva contest?
Answer: I am thrilled and overwhelmed with joy to be selected as the national finalist of Miss Teen Diva 2023. When I received the news, tears of happiness welled up in my eyes and my heart raced with excitement. I couldn't believe it at first, but I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity.
Q. Tell us something about the place you belong to.
Answer: I come from the beautiful state of Bihar, located in the eastern part of India. Bihar is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. It's the birthplace of several great emperors, scholars, and spiritual leaders. My state is characterized by its diverse landscapes, including the fertile Gangetic plains, lush green fields, and the meandering Ganges River. I belong from Patna, the capital city, is a vibrant urban center with a mix of modern and traditional elements. Bihar has a strong cultural identity with a rich tradition of music, dance, and art. The state is also famous for its cuisine, which includes dishes like Litti Chokha, Thekua, and various sweets. One of the most significant cultural events in Bihar is the Chhath Puja, a festival dedicated to the Sun, where we celebrate and worship every phase of the sun. Bihar has a lot to offer in terms of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a unique and captivating place to call home.
Q. Enlighten us in regards to your preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition.
Answer: I am incredibly confident and ready to take on the Miss Teen Diva competition. My preparations have been intense and I've put in the hard work to improve my walk, physical health and public speaking skills. I've also been working on my speaking skills, so I can confidently answer questions during the competition. I've had some amazing trainers and mentors who have been guiding me throughout this journey. They've helped me with everything from my fitness and styling to my confidence and self-presentation. I've also been learning about the importance of social causes and community involvement because Miss Teen Diva isn't just about looking good, it's about making a positive impact. So, I'm excited and determined to do my best and represent Bihar with pride at the competition.
Q. In your opinion, what are the qualities / traits that you believe could help you move ahead in the competition?
Answer: In my opinion, my journey from being obese to becoming physically fit has been the most significant transformation in my life. It's given me a profound understanding of the importance of health and self-improvement. This journey has instilled in me the determination and resilience to face challenges head-on. The qualities and traits that I believe will help me move ahead in the competition include:
I. My personal journey demonstrates that I have the determination to overcome obstacles and achieve my goals.
II. Through my transformation, I've gained a strong sense of self-confidence, which is crucial for success.
III. My experiences have also made me more empathetic and understanding, which I think is essential for connecting with people.
IV. My confident and welcoming smile can be a powerful asset in any competition, and I believe it's one of my strengths.
These qualities, along with my dedication to making a positive impact, will be my strongest assets in the Miss Teen Diva competition.
Q. Tell us something about your hobbies and areas of interest.
Answer: My hobbies and areas of interest are quite diverse. I love dancing, it's a fantastic way to express myself and stay active. I also enjoy cooking, experimenting with new recipes, creating videos on Instagram is another passion of mine, as it allows me to showcase my creativity and connect with others through visual storytelling. So, these hobbies bring excitement and joy to my life.
Q. Any quote or saying that has a profound impact on you.
Answer: “She believed she could, so she did." This quote is a reminder that self-belief is the driving force behind achieving one's goals and making dreams a reality therefore It empowers me to have confidence in myself and my abilities, knowing that with belief and determination, I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.
Q. Who / what is your biggest support system?
Answer: My mother and father are my biggest support system. I come from a place where people are often forced to choose their career paths, but my parents have been incredibly supportive. They understood me better than anyone else, and without them, I couldn't have achieved anything. Their unwavering belief in me and my dreams gives me the confidence to pursue my goals and face any challenges that come my way.
Q. When you look back in time, what is the biggest life lesson that you have learnt?
Answer: When I think about the past, the most important thing I've learned is how vital it is to take care of my physical health. Eating well and staying active are like the secret ingredients to feeling good and having a happy life. So, I've learned to make healthy choices to stay strong and enjoy life to the fullest.
Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to handle criticism?
Answer: When it comes to criticism, I've learned to graciously accept it with open arms, as if it's a rare gift from the wisdom gods. I mean, who doesn't love to be told how to live their life, right? But in all seriousness, while I value constructive feedback, I also appreciate a dash of humor and sarcasm to keep things in perspective. It's all about finding that delicate balance.
Q. One piece of advice that you would like to share with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry.
Answer: In the beauty pageant industry, one should remember that beauty isn't skin deep, it's your heart, your character, and your confidence that truly set you apart. So, polish your inner qualities as much as your outer appearance and you'll radiate a beauty that's truly extraordinary.
