Richa Chadha's Galwan tweet row: Complaint filed against actress; Raveena Tandon replies
An official complaint has been lodged against Richa Chadha in response to the controversy surrounding her tweet about the Galwan restaurant.
In response to the controversy surrounding actress Richa Chadha's tweet about the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, Madhya Pradesh's home minister Narottam Mishra said he had received a complaint and had forwarded it to the police for a legal opinion. He also had harsh words for the actress, saying that her tweet revealed her "tukde-tukde" mentality.
After Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi said the Indian Army is "waiting for orders from the govt (sic)" before reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the actor responded with the tweet "Galwan says hi" (PoK).
A lot of people, including some celebrities, took offence to a tweet by actor Richa Chadha in which she appeared to make fun of the deaths of soldiers serving in the Indian Armed Forces.
Mishra released a video statement about the actor on Saturday, stating that he needs to learn to "draw a line" between the Army and the movies. To Chadha, the minister said, "There is a difference between reel and real life," daring him to live in the same conditions as a soldier who defends the country in all kinds of weather.
It's unfortunate that you chose to insult the patriots in that way. Her tukde-tukde attitude is on full display in that remark. I've received a complaint about her and forwarded it to the police for their assessment," Mishra said. Tukde-tukde is a term frequently used by right-wing parties to attack the opposition, especially Left and Left-backed outfits and those who support them.
A journalist posted a screenshot of Richa Chadha's tweet alongside the following text: "For last four decades, ISI money has flowed into Bollywood. At other times, it is done covertly through the underworld's assets. There is no other plausible explanation for the existence of blood traitors. Chadha, Richa. Upon hearing this, Raveena said, "Please do not lump all of us together or generalise. The result is increased animosity towards Bollywood. Strong patriots have always been a part of the industry, but they often find themselves thrown under it by the hands of a select few.
