Rashi Dayanand Panchal from Maharashtra has been selected as one of the finalists for the nation’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for teenagers and adolescents - Miss Teen Diva. Born in Mumbai, Rashi is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Mumbai University. An academically inclined young prodigy, Rashi has won the Science Olympiad and also possesses expertise in coding, calligraphy and penmanship. She is a polyglot and can speak 4 languages including English, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High Magazine, she talks about her preparations for the Miss Teen Diva finals and her journey till now.
Q. Many congratulations to you for getting selected for the national finals of Miss Teen Diva 2023 competition. How does it feel? What were the first thoughts that crossed your mind when you got the news that you have gotten selected to compete at the 2023 Miss Teen Diva contest?
Answer: So far, it feels like a dream. To be honest it was my third time applying for it and my first thought was yes I made it through the first step towards my dream. I was thrilled and excited to have the opportunity to participate in such a prestigious competition. Along with the excitement, there was a certain level of nervousness. Competing in a beauty pageant is a significant challenge, and I would want to perform at my very best then I immediately start thinking about how to prepare and what steps I need to take to give my best performance in the competition.
Q. Tell us something about the place you belong to.
Answer: I am from a small town located in the suburbs of Mumbai, known as Nallasopara. Nallasopara is considered by scholars to be the Shurparaka of ancient India, which means "city of braves". Being close to the sea, there are amazing beaches. Plus, there are beautiful temples and waterfalls to explore, giving us a perfect mix of nature and spirituality. People here work hard to make a living, and despite the challenges they face, they maintain a remarkable level of humility and warmth, from that I learned the importance of hard work and perseverance. I think my upbringing in a small town has made me a more down-to-earth and humble person. I also think it has made me more appreciative of the simple things in life.
Q. Enlighten us in regards to your preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition.
Answer: My preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition are progressing well. Every day, I am exposed to new skills and valuable insights from my peers and former titleholders. It's a journey of continuous learning and growth, and I'm grateful for the support and knowledge-sharing within our sessions. Also, I’m focusing on physical fitness and grooming, ensuring I'm in the best shape and presenting my best self. Moreover, I'm working on my confidence and communication skills, as these are essential for the competition, and I'm dedicated to giving my very best on the stage.
Q. In your opinion, what are the qualities / traits that you believe could help you move ahead in the competition?
Answer: In my opinion, the qualities that could help me move ahead in the competition include my resilience and self-reliance. My ability to have my own back and not give up, coupled with my readiness to adapt to the dynamic environment and embrace the phases of learning and unlearning, are my key strengths. These qualities enable me to stay focused, confident, and open to growth, ultimately propelling me forward in the competition.
Q. Tell us something about your hobbies and areas of interest.
Answer: One of my hobbies is reading. I enjoy getting lost in the pages of a good book, whether it's a thrilling mystery, a thought-provoking book, or an engaging fantasy novel. It's a wonderful way to broaden my horizons and continuously learn about various topics and ideas. One of my primary areas of interest is modeling. I have a deep passion for the world of fashion, runway, and photography. Pageantry is another area that truly captivates me. It's not just about outer beauty; it's a platform that fosters self-confidence, personal growth, and empowerment.
Q. Any quote or saying that has a profound impact on you.
Answer: One quote that has had a profound impact on me is "The only way to do great work is to love what you do" by Steve Jobs. This quote reminds me that passion and dedication are key ingredients for achieving excellence in any endeavour. It inspires me to pursue my interests wholeheartedly and strive for greatness in the things I'm truly passionate about.
Q. Who / what is your biggest support system?
Answer: My biggest support system undoubtedly revolves around the significant roles played by my Family and friends. They form the pillars of my strength, providing unwavering support and encouragement. Additionally, my inner soul, guiding me with resilience and self-belief, adds a personal and intrinsic layer to my support system.
Q. When you look back in time, what is the biggest life lesson that you have learnt?
Answer: When reflecting on my journey, the most significant life lesson I've learned is the importance of gratitude. Understanding and appreciating the blessings, experiences, and people who have been part of my life has profoundly shaped my perspective and brought a sense of fulfilment.
Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to handle criticism?
Answer: In my opinion, the best way to handle criticism is to ignore it and focus on improving yourself. When criticism is constructive, it's like a guide for self-improvement. However, if someone is just being harsh, it's better to ignore them. Instead of getting upset, I believe in using criticism as motivation to become better. Responding with negativity doesn't help, but finding ways to grow from criticism can turn it into a positive force for personal development.
Q. One piece of advice that you would like to share with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry.
Answer: One piece of advice I'd like to share with those aspiring to join the beauty pageant industry is to embrace the journey regardless of the outcome. Whether you win or not, the experience and memories gained are invaluable, shaping you in ways beyond measure. Participating in beauty pageants is not just about winning a crown; it's a journey of self-growth. Through this process, you'll develop new perspectives, learn to deal with life's challenges in innovative ways, and emerge stronger. Remember, your network is your net worth in this industry; the bonds you form can open doors to incredible opportunities and lasting connections.
