Journey to the crown: An exclusive interview with Khushi Yadav, Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 finalist
Khushi Yadav from Haryana has been selected as one of the finalists for the nation’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for teenagers and adolescents - Miss Teen Diva. Born in New Delhi, Khushi is student at the Raj International School. She is a yoga practitioner and trained dancer. This young state level yoga champion speaks 2 languages including English and Hindi. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High Magazine, she talks about her preparations for the Miss Teen Diva finals and her journey till now.
Q. Many congratulations to you for getting selected for the national finals of Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 competition. How does it feel? What were the first thoughts that crossed your mind when you got the news that you have gotten selected to compete at the 2023-24 Miss Teen Diva contest?
Answer: It feels different. I can already feel the adrenaline rush for the competition. But most of all, I feel grateful to have such amazingly supportive parents; grateful for wonderful teachers and lastly, I am grateful to my courageous self. The first thoughts that crossed my mind when I got selected were, "Is this for real?" And "I'm not going to let go of this opportunity".
Q. Tell us more about the place you belong to.
Answer: I belong to the state of Haryana. I would like to say it's not only a place with rich culture and history or cyber city but it also has people with strong and equally beautiful hearts. Haryana is an animal cruelty free state and we worship cows too. It is also a place which I'm proud to call my home.
Q. Enlighten us in regards to your preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition.
Answer: To be completely honest, I would like to say that chasing dreams is like going through a forest filled with roses and thorns. In the same way, my preparations are going well but there are some hurdles in the path. I have already seen a lot of improvement in myself but I'll need more in order to win the pageant.
Q. In your opinion, what are the qualities / traits that you believe could help you move ahead in the competition?
Answer: Consistency, confidence, creativity and authenticity are the main attributes that I believe could help me move ahead in the competition.
Q. Tell us something about your hobbies and areas of interest.
Answer: I have a boundless interest in dance. I believe it takes an athlete to dance but an artist to be a dancer. Also, I am a state level yoga champion. Acting and music add up in my list of hobbies as life is filled with unlimited areas of interest.
Q. Any quote or saying that has a profound impact on you.
Answer: "When life gives you lemonade; make grape juice, then sit and let people wonder how you did it." This quote by Priyanka Chopra has had a profound impact on me.
Q. Who / what is your biggest support system?
Answer: My biggest support system is my family, my parents to be more precise. They have supported me with right things as well as guided me in my journey.
Q. When you look back in time, what is the biggest life lesson that you have learnt?
Answer: Looking back, I believe the biggest life lesson that I've learnt is that you can always improve the things you can change about yourself but you need to accept yourself for the things you cannot change in you. It doesn't take courage to hate yourself but it does take a lot of courage to love and accept yourself. This is the imperative message that I plan to spread amongst the youth.
Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to handle criticism?
Answer: I believe the best way to handle criticism is to not take anything personally and letting it go. You know your worth, so don't let things happens to you the way people want them to be.
Q. One piece of advice that you would like to share with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry.
Answer: One piece of advice that I'd like to give to the individuals who want to join the pageant industry is that the journey is full of ups and downs and any person with weak mindset will find it hard. So, I'd like to tell them to use the entire process as a learning experience and have a never giving-up attitude.
Q. Lastly, any message for the readers.
Answer: My message for the readers is that when you are trying to achieve your dreams, I don't want how you look to be the first thing on your mind. I want you to just pursue your dreams because you want to pursue them. I don't want you to be stopped by how you look, who you are or where you're from.
