Journey to the crown: An exclusive interview with Ankita Mazumder, Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 finalist
Ankita Mazumder from Assam has been selected as one of the finalists for the nation’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for teenagers and adolescents - Miss Teen Diva. Born in Silchar, Ankta is currently based in Guwahati. She is a student at the Holy Cross H. S. School and enjoys baking and dancing in her free time. Ankita is a polyglot and can speak three languages including English, Hindi and Bengali. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High Magazine, she talks about her preparations for the Miss Teen Diva finals and her journey till now.
Q. Many congratulations to you for getting selected for the national finals of Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 competition. How does it feel? What were the first thoughts that crossed your mind when you got the news that you have gotten selected to compete at the 2024 Miss Teen Diva contest?
Answer: The first feeling which blew me off my feet was that overflowing happiness of getting closer to my dreams. Now as I can call myself the finalist of Miss Teen Diva. It gives me immense joy, pride and sense of responsibility with a bit of nervousness and one more reason to work hard on myself every day and be consistent as I am one step closer to fulfilling my dream.
Q. Tell us more about the place you belong to.
Answer: Assam is the most developed state in the northeast and it is rich in culture and diversity. I come from a small town named Silchar, which is in Cachar. It is a place which is filled with greenery and here you can get peace, away from the chaos of big cities. It is also known for its beauty. People here live in unity and with harmony. Silchar, despite being a small town away from the big cities, people here live with happiness away from the competitive world, though our people are in a way towards prosperity. No one here holds any ego or pride and this specially makes my place a peaceful and beautiful one to reside.
Q. Enlighten us in regards to your preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition.
Answer: Since the day I got the news of my selection in this prestigious platform Miss Teen Diva, I started working on my skills of communication, my talent round preps, daily practice of ramp walk amongst others. We have our weekly sessions which help me a lot in learning new things as well as making me aware where I’m lacking behind and where I need to work more. I also want to thank our team captain for guiding me in advocacy as well as with my communication practice.
Q. In your opinion, what are the qualities / traits that you believe could help you move ahead in the competition?
Answer: Being the elder daughter, I have learnt to be more responsible and disciplined as well as to stand confidently. It helped me a lot in being determined and patient towards my work. Being generous and respectful towards everyone will surely help me move ahead in my Miss Teen Diva journey.
Q. Tell us something about your hobbies and areas of interest.
Answer: My hobbies are swimming and dancing. It had helped me since childhood. My new areas of interest are Baking and reading.
Q. Any quote or saying that has a profound impact on you.
Answer: “Nothing comes to you that is worth having, except as a result of hard work.” This quote has really motivated me to be more consistent and hardworking towards my goal and pave my journey towards success and a respectful life.
Q. Who / what is your biggest support system?
Answer: My biggest support is my Mother. She is the one who has supported and trusted me in my every small and big decision I have made till date. And yes my best friends who were always there to support me in my worst days and lift me up and also celebrate with me in my success and happiness.
Q. When you look back in time, what is the biggest life lesson that you have learnt?
Answer: The biggest life lesson I have learnt is to be true to yourself because at the end of the day you have to give answers to yourself first and then to other. So be the leader of your own life because if you want to change something you have to be the change first.
Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to handle criticism?
Answer: The best way to handle criticism is to accept it and take it in a positive way.
Q. One piece of advice that you would like to share with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry.
Answer: One piece of advice to all the pageant aspirants is to be confident about yourself because beauty comes from within and to be beautiful you have to feel it first.
