Journey to the crown: An exclusive interview with Shrawani Dudulkar, Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 finalist
Shrawani Dudulkar from Maharashtra has been selected as one of the finalists for the nation’s biggest and most prestigious beauty pageant for teenagers and adolescents - Miss Teen Diva. Born in Maharashtra, Shrawani is student at NIOS and a sportsperson. She has represented India at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and has won the Under 14 CS7 AITA Tournament. Apart from this she had also secured the runner-up position at a national beauty pageant held earlier this year. This young sports prodigy speaks 3 languages including English, Hindi and Marathi. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High Magazine, she talks about her preparations for the Miss Teen Diva finals and her journey till now.
Q. Many congratulations to you for getting selected for the national finals of Miss Teen Diva 2023-24 competition. How does it feel? What were the first thoughts that crossed your mind when you got the news that you have gotten selected to compete at the 2023-24 Miss Teen Diva contest?
Answer: Being selected for the national finals of the Miss Teen Diva competition is an exhilarating and humbling experience. The moment I received the news, a surge of emotions enveloped me— gratitude, excitement, and a sense of responsibility. It's not just a personal triumph; it's an opportunity to represent not only myself but also my passion and the incredible support system that has driven me to this stage. That moment, I envisioned a journey filled with growth, empowerment, and the chance to inspire others. The realization that I'll be standing among st the best, showcasing my passion and commitment, fuelled my determination to give my absolute best. I now understand that this journey is not just about competing; it's about representing resilience, grace, and the belief that Goals can indeed become a Reality. I am grateful for this platform and ready to embrace the upcoming adventure with enthusiasm, a grateful heart, and the determination to shine my brightest on the national stage.
Q. Tell us something about the place you belong to.
Answer: I proudly represent the geographical centre of India, the city of Nagpur, state Maharashtra, well-known as a major trade hub for oranges. It’s rightly named 'the Tiger Capital of India' for its connection to numerous tiger reserves. Nagpur is not just a place; it's a warm embrace of hospitality and kindness. The locals, known for their helpful and welcoming nature, make it a haven for immigrants. Our city's pride, the "Saoji curry," is a must-try for those craving spicy delights, representing the richness of Vidharbian cuisine. Nagpurians also share a deep love for festivals, uniting as one to celebrate joy and happiness. This unity, this magic, is what I hold dear about my city, Nagpur.
Q. Enlighten us in regards to your preparations for the upcoming Miss Teen Diva competition.
Answer: Miss Teen Diva is a platform every pageant aspirant dream to compete. I feel the privilege to be selected as the grand finalist for this season as it takes me one step closer to my goal. I prioritise preparing myself mentally and physically. I work out to stay fit and be in the best physique during the crucial days. I read a lot to improve intellectually and practice voice modulation for better delivery of speech and stage presence. I walk every day to ace the art of ramp walk on the stage as I aim to set the stage on fire. I take special care of my skin and diet to get the flawless skin. I nourish my soul meditating as it directs and connects me to my inner self and directs my focus to be the best version of myself.
Q. In your opinion, what are the qualities / traits that you believe could help you move ahead in the competition?
Answer: The qualities I believe will propel me forward in this competition are:
I carry a sense of patriotism, a love for my country that drives my desire to make a positive impact. I have a warrior spirit, facing challenges with courage and determination. My journey in this pageant is a testament to my dedication and hard work. My ambition motivates me to reach new heights and inspire others along the way. My core values are being non-judgmental, understanding that true strength lies in unity and acceptance. In the face of adversity, I personify a never-give-up attitude, a commitment to persevering through challenges and emerging stronger on the other side. Adaptability is the key in a fast-paced world, and I take pride in being a quick learner. I embrace change with open arms, seeing it as an opportunity for growth and self-improvement. I believe I carry the traits of a queen, who is ready to make a difference, uplift others and believe that success is not just about personal achievement but also about shouldering the responsibilities that come with it.
Q. Tell us something about your hobbies and areas of interest.
Answer: The hobbies and interests that shape my personality are:
Sports hold a special place in my heart, I enjoy playing badminton and table tennis, where I engage in friendly competition.
Drawing is my canvas for self-expression. The colours allow me to convey emotions.
I find comfort in spending time outdoors. Whether it's a campfire under the starlit sky or trekking through scenic landscapes, I enjoy the peacefulness that nature offers.
Exploring and discovering vintage places is a thrilling adventure for me. The architecture, sculpture and design tell a tale of the past.
Lastly, I have a genuine appreciation for a variety of food. From savouring local delicacies to trying new cuisines is a source of fascination for me.
Q. Any quote or saying that has a profound impact on you.
Answer: The quote that has had a profound impact on me is: “The beauty of success lies in the work we are trying to avoid” – Author Unknown
It suggests that the real beauty of achieving goals comes from taking on challenges and overcoming them.
It reminds me that success doesn't come easily; it's the outcome of consistent effort and commitment over time.
It's not just about reaching external goals but also about growing and improving myself through overcoming challenges.
Q. Who / what is your biggest support system?
Answer: The biggest support system is my family. Yes, there are many other well- wishers behind the screen who support, inspire, and motivate me.
Special mention is my grandmother.
She has been my backbone through thick and thin since childhood. She gives me the emotional support that ignites the fire to work hard towards learning and growth.
I have learnt as a teen to adapt to change and find a way to peace of mind and body.
Her presence has helped me find my way to the Miss Teen Diva pageant and I am making her proud.
Q. When you look back in time, what is the biggest life lesson that you have learnt?
Answer: When I look back in time, the biggest lesson I have learnt is that “whatever happens, happens for the best.” I believe, God has better plans. When things don’t work out, trust there’s goodness behind it. My personal experience taught me to accept my fate and look beyond. I was injured in pursuit of representing India in International Lawn Tennis tournament. This incident paved my road to the pageant world. Hence, leading to this prestigious platform of Miss Teen Diva.
Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to handle criticism?
Answer: In my opinion the best way to handle criticism is to approach it with an open mind.
We should identify the specific points being raised and consider the intentions behind the criticism.
If it leads to a constructive motive, we should adapt and use it as a tool for self-improvement rather than taking it otherwise.
Q. One piece of advice that you would like to share with the individuals who want to join the beauty pageant industry.
Answer: The beauty pageant industry is just not about building a resilient personality, but also facing challenges head-on, and unlocking numerous career opportunities. As participants, the key to performing efficiently lies in thorough preparation and grooming. My advice to aspiring individuals is to embark on this journey with careful consideration and deliberate choice. Before enrolling in any pageant, take the time to prepare yourself holistically. Strengthen your physical and mental resilience, as this journey demands both. Additionally, choose your beauty pageant wisely, ensuring that the values and opportunities align with your aspirations.
