Manjeet Kaur Baweja from Punjab has been selected as one of the finalists for the 2024 Mrs. India beauty pageant organized by the Glamanand Group. Born in Punjab, Manjeet is currently based in New Delhi. She is a professional makeup artists and stylist. She has also won a national beauty title in the past and describes it has a great accomplishment and learning experience. When not occupied by her professional duties, she likes to spend time with her kids and explore new places. Manjeet is a polyglot and can speak three languages including English, Hindi and Punjabi. In this exclusive interview with the Beauty High magazine, she talks about her preparations for the Mrs. India 2024 beauty pageant and her journey so far.
Q. Many congratulations to you for getting selected for the national finals of Mrs. India 2024 competition. How does it feel? What were the first thoughts that crossed your mind when you got the news that you have gotten selected to compete at the 2024 Mrs. India contest?
Answer: Thank you. It feels amazing to be selected for the Mrs. India 2024 finals. My first thoughts were excitement and gratitude. I'm thrilled to receive this opportunity to represent married women and make the most of this platform to inspire others. I am eagerly looking forward to unfold a new chapter in my life.
Q. Tell us more about the place you belong to.
Answer: I was born in Ludhiana in the Indian state of Punjab and moved to New Delhi after getting married. Ludhiana is a lively city known for its rich culture and bustling industries. It's famous for delicious Punjabi cuisine, vibrant festivals like Baisakhi and Lohri, and landmarks such as Lodhi Fort. With its blend of tradition and modernity, Ludhiana is a vibrant hub of activity in Punjab
Q. Please take us through the significant milestones in your life and how they have shaped you as the person you are today.
Answer: As a professional makeup artist and stylist, reaching significant milestones has been a journey of passion and perseverance. It all started with me getting into a marriage for which I was never ready and during my journey I did not receive much support initially because everyone had their own responsibilities to shoulder and I was also preoccupied with my duties. A journey from working in a small parlor and now becoming a freelance makeup artist is a big achievement for me and I got this courage and passion from my daughter who supported me at every turn. I realized that nothing will be achieved by giving up, this is life and we will have to fight it and keep ourselves happy and become something for myself and my children. Overcoming challenges, such as competition and self-doubt, taught me resilience and determination. Each milestone, from honing my skills to establishing my business, has shaped me into the confident and skilled makeup artist I am today.
Q. What are your hobbies and areas of interests, and how do you manage them with the responsibilities that you shoulder?
Answer: My hobbies are exploring new places and spending time with my kids, alongside my work as a makeup artist. To manage them, I plan my time carefully. I set aside specific times for work and family activities, staying flexible to handle unexpected tasks. As a freelance makeup artist, I travel frequently for work, allowing me to both work and explore new places simultaneously. Involving my kids in my hobbies help us bond, making it easier to balance everything.
Q. Please tell us about your family and the role they play in your life
Answer: In my family, there are six of us: my husband, our son who is in 8th grade, our daughter who is pursuing her higher education in Canada and my supportive parents-in-law. The unwavering support of my parents-in-law has been instrumental in helping me balance my personal and professional life. I attribute my success and who I am today to the love and support of my children and my supportive parents-in-law.
Q. Balancing personal, professional, and family responsibilities can be challenging. How do you manage this delicate balance in your life?
Answer Balancing personal, professional, and family responsibilities is indeed a delicate task, but I manage it through careful planning, communication, and flexibility. Effective time management helps me allocate dedicated period for work, family activities, and personal time. Additionally, I communicate openly with my family about my schedule and seek their support in managing responsibilities. Flexibility is the key, as I adapt to unexpected changes and prioritize what truly matters in the moment.
Q. What is the most crucial piece of advice that you would like to share with the women of this era?
Answer: The most crucial piece of advice I would like to share with the women of this era is to believe in yourself and your abilities. Trust your instincts, pursue your passions, and never underestimate your potential to make a difference. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and remember that setbacks are not failures but stepping stones toward success. Surround yourself with supportive individuals who uplift and empower you, and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and others. Your voice matters, your dreams are valid, and you have the power to shape your own destiny. Believe in yourself, and you'll be amazed at what you can achieve.
